Another ball-in-a-box
This is a bit of a roughy - actually just the prototype but I won't have time to do a good'un . The box-in-a-ball-in-a-box I did for my first entry led me to thinking about something similar but more aesthetically acceptable. Turning on 6 axis gives a whole lot of room for error and I had my fair share on this one but lessons learnt will help on the next.
Cocked up the second face and it all went downhill from there - the reason for my thread about templates - need a very precise template to get this one right.
Turned from waste melaleuca with rot all through it and finished with wipe on poly.

I felt the first one was more a technical challenge to precisely fill 's 50mm cube - looked more like one of those puzzles they sell at the markets but I'll send you that one if you want it - or you could try hitting GJ up for one - he's making a bigger version at present

Well, it's very unlikely that there will be a separate category for jewelry, so the ring and the earring do not count.
If there is going to be a separate category for bowls, this is my entry in it. I call it the 8-winged dragon. Olivewood, Shellawax. The last pic is in the 50x50x50 paper box I made for easy reference.

But if there is only one open category, this is my entry.
Is it a vase? A box with a finial? No, an apothecary jar with mixing bowl and pestel. And it all fits in the 50mm cube.
Western Myall, Shellawax.
