I still need to so some research on the VFD, I'm looking at the eBay models as well right now but need to chat with a few more knowledgeable people before I purchase.

Thanks, me too. I might post a thread here to see if anyone has any feedback.

Not a bad idea, I'll likely chime in if you do.

Not much progress on the machinery side of things but I've been busy otherwise! Finished up a chisel tray this morning and then spent the afternoon with Bob getting instruction on the lathe.

Thanks again Bob, I had a blast.

Spent a little time today after work stripping the belt guard and removing the motor from the cabinet. Silly me didn't do a very good job covering the bed with a tarp either and a couple of light rains meant it had a nice layer of surface rust on it where water had pooled. Scraped it off and will get cracking on the tables again soon.

Was surprised to see a 2HP motor in it, was expecting a 3HP from the other machines I've seen. It does seem to be in very nice shape though, it seems the thick layer of dust on it kept it mostly insulated from moisture and rust. Would like to hear opinions on whether the 2HP motor will be enough, I have no idea.

2HP is pretty standard for 10" and that's all my 10" combo thicknesser/planer has.

Open up the connect box and lets see what the connections look like.

Cool good to know! Here's the motor connection box, not sure how much these photos help - first time inside a 3 phase motor.

Standard star connection and no sign of a common point (occasionally that is brought out to the connect box)

Yell out if you need a hand to convert it to delta,

No dramas mate, If I can get it running I'll likely take you up on that. I'm hoping it's just something simple like wiring or a faulty switch, there was also what appeared to be some sort of separate overload circuit wired in between the switch and the motor.

Planning to buy a new 3 phase NVR, wire it up and hope for the best.

Anyone know if this will do the trick for a replacement switch? There's also a 3HP model for a few dollars more if a bit of headroom is a good idea.

Dropped off the dust collector at my parents place after fitting some castors, was able to snap a couple of pics of the VL200. Not my finest photos but you get the point.

Still havent fit the motor though, when I was there last the switch decided to stop working. Have brought it home and have ordered a new cam switch, will swap the switch and wiring out for new stuff.
