Well, I have done my happy dance. The shed is fully fitted off, I now have power everywhere, fans and lights all working. Just need to install TV and air cons. The air conditioners I will install once I have painted the outside of the shed. Going to spray the shed, never done that before so should be fun.

I am now designing my main bench and tool locations. The main bench will be very basic 4.3m long and all draws. My main decision here is what to build it out of. Once this is build I can start stowing things away.

Anyway fun and games in 2019.

Well I'm pleased the shed is now all painted and I can now get my air cons fitted.

More importantly I want to start building my cabinets. Funny thing is, I have designed and re designed the cabinets so much so I'm getting confused in what I want and not what looks good on U tube. This is the same situation with my other benches. I guess its a good problem to have.

Anyway I figure I will just build my drop saw bench first with some stowage areas and go from there. If it works out not being suitable I can modify it at a later stage. I also have to build a lean too at the rear of the shed to house wheel barrows, cement mixer, ladders, garden tools etc, stuff I don't want inside the shed. I'll worry about that in the dry season.

Managed also to do all the paperwork to have the plans amended and the certifier is sorting the rest out.

    Hi,

Well, air conditioners are in . TV to be installed soon, I purchased a 50 inch set with the latest wiz bang stuff , I never made it past the grass to the shed. Wife spotted it and I've been relegated the one from our lounge, still got the wiz bang stuff just a bit smaller . Clearly, I have to be smarter in getting passed the wife to the shed .

I have started building my drop saw bench. Initially I was not building in underneath, once in place there is just too much room to just sit idle. OH Hum for my simple bench. I should have given it more thought would have saved me a bit of mucking around. So will look at draws or maybe a sliding bench, all I know at this stage, it will not just be a shelf.

I have also made a lot French cleats and will mount them soon. I made 15 boxes for screws to mount on the French cleats, clearly I underestimated the number of screws and stuff I had to go in boxes. More ply and lots more boxes to be made.

Its a modest start and one that will evolve over time, I just need to get stuff out of boxes I'm sick of not being able to put my hands on tools
    I know I have.

Construction materials 90x45 MGP 10 with structural ply top (I had it). Over kill but not going anywhere. All joint for the two side frames are checked in, glued and screwed. The saw needs to be adjusted up by 1/2 to a mil to be spot on with the side benches.

My drop saw is a 30 year old Makita still going strong, I feel this saw is all I need, I'm not likely to be doing compound mitres or cutting large timbers and I already have 3 drop saws. To buy another would have been a waste of money which I can put to either a bandsaw / dust extraction unit. My Ryobi compound saw would have been too big and my Elu which also rotates can be used as a table saw and I'm looking at setting it up as that.

    Projects -
Office cabinets - need this actioned soon so I can clean up one room of the house.
    Full bench in shed.
Set up my Elu and bench

More importantly I'm enjoying myself. If interested will put more photos up as I progress.

Looking good , the drop saw bench is the same as mine , I put all the cordless chargers and drivers to the left and made a fastener cabinet to the right and installed two shelves above each , no wasted space behind the fence.
I put a dedicated Dust deputy with a shop vac and bin under the saw , I am building a vac system for the whole shop but I will leave the dust deputy , it's convenient to empty the bin there , good luck with rest of your great shed.

    Hi Rod,

I am going to shelf or at least put something behind the fence. To must space let unused otherwise. Can you show a photo of your system IE dust deputy as Im thinking of doing something along that line as well.

Need to get lots more ply at this rate I cannot afford my plans .

Progress is being made, I moved temporarily away from my drop saw build and installed some french cleats. Having looked at a number of French cleat systems there does not appear to be any rules re spacing so I just set them about 90 mm apart. I used 17 mm ply and the cleats fixed to the wall with two wing tex screws per stud. apart from the painted boxes, all the other ply is coated with Intergrain. I'm starting to make boxes for screws and other bits and pieces. I'm hoping to get the clamps stowage or at least one lot done tomorrow.
Once I sort a bit of storage out I will get back to my drop saw.

I started on the cleats for a simple reason I need space and to get space I need to get boxes with my gear off the floor and out of the shed. Also I want to find my tapes, hammers, drill bits and other gear to make it easier to do what I want and not spend my time trying to find tools to do the work.

As I have no room in the shed I have to work under the BBQ area and my comedian of a wife ---- says, could of saved a lot of money if your not going to use the shed

ere are a few photo updates.

The first photo is a lot of cabinets that were pulled out of our kitchen so will break them down and reuse. May also give a bit of room.

    Fun and games.

Good Friday strikes and I figure time to get a hit on stuff in the shed.

As they say all good plans need a plan B. Get a great start and find I'm looking after my grandson, don't get me wrong love my grandson BUT, plan B. Now he love to mess with tools and only being 7 needs lots of interaction and guidance. At least now he can name the tools, use drills and a brad nailer. He had a fun day, as I did and we still managed a few clamp holders and a cartridge gun holder. I allowed two spots for the cartridge holders most likely have more but will donate any others to the Man Shed. Of course spending time with the grandson was priceless and we also made a bad man helicopter as he called it. I wanted to take a photo but he pulled it apart before I could get a photo.

The making of the clamp racks allowed me to remove a box that belongs in my 4x4 and also allowed me to move my recovery gear to my vehicle, two boxes out of the shed .

It not rocket science to make the clamp racks, and what I have done may not be everyone cup of tea or even perfect, like some you see on facebook, but it will work for me at this moment. Of course as I unpack I'm sure to find more clamps, will deal with this as I progress.

Pleased to say I will now return to may drop saw.

Clamps 1.jpg Some of my clamps Timber Q.jpg just a by question any know what timber this is?

    Fun Time Ahead
