Smile Coming Soon - new shed - guess who's a happy lad

After moving in Nov last year I have now been shedless for 6 months, the time is rapidly approaching for the construction of the new and improved shed , how is it improved I hear you ask, well it goes like this,

    1. its all workshop, no storing fencing materials, stock feed, chainsaws, excess stuff from the house and 27 uncompleted projects because I'm too busy fixing fences, driveways, chook sheds etc etc.

    2. the river running through it every time it rains will no longer occur.

    3. it not be constantly attacked by falling limbs, trees and rocks rolling down from the paddock above.

    4. not having to share with small furry varmits

    5. a sealed floor and proper dust extraction (apprently opening the roller door and windows to let the dust blow away doesn't meet proper OH & S)

    6. did I mention it's ALL workshop,

The building permit has been issued, the shed ordered, construction due at the end of May - Early July (fingers crossed), once the house is finished and we gain access to the site.

Basic details 6 x 9, skillion roof with 450mm eaves (2.8 on low side, 3.4 high side) concrete slab, air cell roof insulation, vermaseal around base. Additional 2 x 2 shed for DC and Compressor (plus lawn mowers garden tools etc). Will be lined and insulated after construction and layout is finalised. Cameras and alarm system will be installed. Have run a dedicated single phase 32A circuit and 6mm cable to an isolation switch at the rear of the house for wiring the shed, with the house having 3 phase (3 metre run to the shed).

Going to be a lot of fun unpacking the storage unit, purging the stuff that needs replacing and finally being able to buy all those toys I have coveted but have either had no space or no funds to buy. 3 years out from retirement and I cant wait.

Photo's will be posted as soon as progress occurs.

I certainly don't want to burst your dream bubble but this goal might not be achievable.

It's nice to have dreams, but I'm hoping the lack of stock feed, minimisation of nesting material and the addition of the Vermaseal, the small furry varmits will be kept to a controllable level

So no more babbling brook meandering through the whispers of little fury friends?

Just the penetrating screams of lacerated trees while you pump a river of electrons into your shiny steel box?

    ....

    Hehehe. Just playing with words.
It sounds like it will be an awesome shed.

Serious now: is it OK to have the compressor and the DC in the same small shed? 2 x 2 sounds too small to partition. If you made it 3 x 2 you could partition it to keep the compressor in clean air.

+1 for this advice. Built a similar space at the back of my shed (1.8M square) that housed DC, compressor and wheelbarrow. That is until something went through the DC and sliced the dust bag open. Didn't even realize until I heard the compressor running longer than normal. Opened the DC enclosure to find the compressor filter was caked in dust, along with every other surface. So now my compressor has it's own home.

Hopefully the running water this time will be of the quantity I want and under my control (well this is the plan anyway), as for my little fury friends hopefully I have left them all behind

Hmmmm more research required I feel, I have never had a DC before and may need to house this away from the compressor, I was only considering the noise reduction, thanks for the heads up
