    Default New concrete block shed

I thought some people here might be interested in these videos of my current project. I'm replacing a previous concrete block and fibro shed with a bigger version completely done in concrete block. It's the first time I've done this sort of thing so I'm learning as I go.

My video editing skills are pretty basic, as you can see.

I wish they had glue when I did mine with concrete blocks.

You don't need to glue them like I have been. They interlock vertically and horizontally so you just stack them dry and then the whole thing is core filled. I'm doing this slowly over a number of weeks so I'm gluing just for insurance against strong winds until the core filling is complete.

Are there no lintels over the openings? If not I'm presuming the core filling and reo hold it all together. Is there extra reo above the openings? Just interested as I really like this building method. Can you link to the particular blocks/glue you are using?
Those were the droids I was looking for.

You can find the details of the blocks I am using on this page: Brochure Downloads just scroll down to "versaloc brochure".

The core fill and steel reinforcement form the lintel in situ, as you suggest. There are horizontal bars as needed above the openings.

As an amateur, I've found it to be a good system. I can take my time when laying the blocks to get everything straight and level, plus it's way less messy than dealing with mortar. I've been able to just lay a few blocks after work with no fuss.

Cleanest building site that I have ever seen.

It looks like a good system for the amateur bricky.

I am some months behind with editing these, but here's what I was up to in November:

Thanks for these very interesting posts - I've learned a lot about this building method following your progress.

When it comes to the roof structure, looks like you could do with a couple of extra pairs of hands to get those beams up...
