Sad
A sadness shared is a sadness lessened I'm hoping.
I'm splitting up with the missus, and I have to move out. No biggy, except I am so sad to leave my beloved shed. I built it myself and it is setup just the way I like.
It was a happy place, and I am so upset to be leaving it.
I've had so many happy times in there by myself, with my daughters, and with fellow woodworkers (hello to Juffy and Gomez) that it feels like a part of me, rather than an inanimate object.
I'm sure only a fellow shed-ite would understand.

Hi Wongdai,
I hear ya mate. Sorry to say. Hope you are able to find suitable diggs and can take all your shed tools with you.
You will always have those happy times. Also hope a new shed will be not too far down the track.
Cheers
Pops

Sorry to hear that Wongdai.
It's hard keeping a relationship together for the sake of your shed.
You may not feel this way at the moment, but there really is plenty of lovely sheds out there, and when the time is right you'll find another shed that's just right for you.
Best Wishes
Steve.

If you and your daughters all enjoy the shed together, then why cant you wife sling her hook and leave you all in peace?
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Hi Wongdai,
I feel for you, but look at it from this point.. that shed was phase 1, a nice set up, with ALMOST everything you needed..
the next one will be phase 2, use this to add those little extras that you wished you had done in phase 1.
How do I know this ??? well I am in the planning stage for PHASE 3..I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

Hi Wongdai
Sad news indeed. I bet your shed is just as sad as you are but, yes, Hopefully now you can build/setup another shed for yourself and be just as happy in it. Just think of it as this one is all grown up now and is being released 'into the wild'Box Challenge 2011 - Check out the amazing Boxes!

Hi Wongdai,
When you get sorted out with digs and need a hand to move stuff or set up a new shed then just give me a call. If I can help I certainly will, (I'm not too bright but I can lift stuff).
You have my mobile number. All the best mate.
Cheers

You need to organise a Shed Moving Party.....
With enough blokes underneath it, fuelled by sufficient beer, its surprising what can be lifted and moved in one piece....
Either way, I hope you won't be shedless for too long.

That's bad.
I feel for you.
I hope that you can take your gear. There'll be another shed, probably better than before.
Hang in there.

sad days indeed but it must be remembered the shed is merely a vessel which contains the current memories, your "new shed", wherever it may be, will very quickly fill up with "new" memories, friends and family will follow you to that happy place as well, take care
G'day I'm Dave!

Thanks all,
I knew that you would all be understanding of my turmoil.
Big props to Pops for the offer - thanks mate. I haven't got new digs yet but when I do I will let you know. There might even be a glass of red available at the end of the day.
Of late, I've been spending as much time as possible in my current shed. I finally finished off the perfume atomiser for the youngest daughter - unfortunately I still have a lot to learn about wood turning, but she likes it. And I have commenced a sheoak coffee table for my eldest, which hopefully I can have finished prior to my departure
At least my wood heap will be smaller to move this way.
I actually found a rentail property today that advertised having a "good sized shed". Hopefully it is available in my time frame and the shed really is "good sized".

Good luck mate. I split with my wife nearly 5 years ago.... still don't have custody of my lathes etc. I have left a 40' x 40' with 25' skillion on the front shed for a 20' x 10' hole full of stuff. Every so often I visit my lathes and spray them with another layer of CRC.
Good luck with your "Shed Quest"
I would just like to add that I do plan to have another decent shed someday and I am accumulating a few bits and pieces toward that happiest of days. Today I scored 11 5'0" fluoros and a box of new tubes for a very tidy price (Nix!). They should lend a little light....

When I read this I immediately thought of that joke ....bloke says to his shrink "my wife ran off with my best mate.......jeez I miss him".
Don't mean to sound callous about your breakup, just when I read your paragraph about your "beloved shed" a it did make me chuckle.
Good luck finding another shed (sanctuary)Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Well, I have applied to rent a place. What a depressing experience.
The house is not too bad, but the shed is a pathetic little garden shed. I will be lucky to fit my gear in there, let alone use it.
If I can put some sort of backing on the carport to fully enclose it, I might be able to turn that into a workable workshop.
Here's hoping...
