When I had my shed wired I organised a 15A GPO outside my shed where the compressor enclosure was to be located. However when I went to install the compressor I realised I wanted to be able to start and stop the compressor from the inside of the shed and not have to walk around to the outside where the enclosure was located.

So I rewired the GPO back to the inside of the shed. To power the compressor I cut a 2" portal through the wall into the enclosure and lined the hole with 2" PVC.
    Through this portal goes.
    A cable for the compressor
A cable connecting a temperature sensor in teh enclosure to a display inside the shed
A length of 1/4" pressure line that connects the tank to a Pressure gauge inside the shed.

This was when I first installed the compressor and it had 3 Phase motor running from a VFD.
It also had timer that limited auto triggering operation between 9pm and 6 am and a V/A display.
Plus a delay timer to run a ventilation fan for a predetermined time while the compressor was running and for a set time afterwards - the fan ran from a 10A GPO

Anyway you can see the port near the bottom of the photo.
These days theres no VFD and the rest has been simplified.
Gee's I wasted a lot of time on this stupid thing.

Isn't that the only reason we clean up our sheds, to add more 'stuff', very valuable stuff,is what I tell my wife
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

    Cheers

    Thanks for the reply.

Maybe you are a lot younger than me or just have better eyes but the recommendations for workshops is ~ 750 lumens/m^2, and more than this for fine work and less for say storage areas.

    A 30 m^2 shed would thus nominally requires ~ 22500 lumens.
Despite some unsubstantiated claims, a 1.2m T8 LED fluoro replacement tube typically outputs ~2000 lumen's so to get 22500 you would need 12, T8 tubes.

FWIW My shed is 42 m^2 and I started out with 6 doubles (570 lumens and found it was not enough especially for fine work ie seeing scratches or reading a manual with small text. Now I have a total of 19 tubes which makes it about 900 lumens/m^2. To help things along a little more in specific locations I placed one of each of the sets of doubles specifically above each of the two lathes, and one above the main assembly bench. This places the light where I need it most. In addition I have 4 spots (two of which are LEDs) that I can move around and also a pair of 20 W CF in my welding booth which I will eventually convert to LEDs.

    Hope your holiday goes well.

Sounds like a keeper! My missus kicks in if I ask but she does have a bench in the shed. It was going to be my turning bench in front of the better window but its now a glass and rock cutting shaping bench.
