Sorry gents - time got away...
Unfortunately I had to go back to work in May - my 3-month break that turned into 7-months came to a screaming halt as the $$ ran out Reality sucks sometimes.
Anyhoo, since then, the shed got broken into - wa%kers took a lot of hand tools - insurance claim #1. We had some ferocious storms in July so a thumping great gum dropped itself on the rear of the shed (nothing structural, just some panel/ gutter damage... though all the pool equipment got smashed to bits) and got some flooding damage under the house where a lot of other tools were stored in the same storm... so, hello insurance claim #2.
Right, where were we? Ah yes, shed.
So in the past couple of weeks I've started to insulate and plasterboard the western wall - yeah, I know plasterboard... will ding, mark, scratch But a longtime ago I fell in love with a workshop I saw in a copy of FWW Tools and Shops 2008 (pp44-52), and I liked how Matthew Teague used MDF wainscoting to act as a bit of a bumper as well as mark locations of the studs (gawd I hate using stud finders)... anyway, I digress. Will add some pics in the coming week or two...

At the same time, I've started preparing the blower housing, motor mounts and such in readiness for a Bill Pentz 18" Cyclone DC - step-son is fabricating the cyclone body. Bought the motor and 16" impeller from Clearvue a little over 12mths ago. Had wanted the DC to sit outside in a separate enclosure, but there's not really the clearance between shed and boundary, might look at it again once all the construction works at our place are signed off, but for the moment, it will be inside the shed, though outlet air vented outside via muffler for sound reduction.
Will do a separate thread in Dust extraction for details on the blower build at some point.

It does mean I need to settle on the machine layout shortly so I can plan the ducting - 225mm main with 150mm branches and drops to machines. Decisions, decisions ;b

Thanks for the reply Moo' we were getting worried! You've had a rough trot and I hope it's now clear sailing?
I haven't seen it myself yet but Corrimal Men's Shed is held up as an example of practical and effective dust collection and it's only just down the road for you. If interested just drop me a PM and I have a friend of a friend who can get you a visit.

Wow that's a real bugger to have someone steel your tools. Thanks for the update being a real pleasure to read about the build.
