Dave if this like most sheds/factories that lovely flat area on top will be filled within no time on a ceiling not designed for weight

Ive spec'd up the plans. Went for 45 mm studs insteaf of 35mm. Noggings at no more than 1200 c's instead of single row.

    Ceiling joists upgraded from 140 x 45 mgp10 @ 600 c's to 190 x 45 LVL's @ 450 c's.

I had an idea just what you are saying could take place

You would need to be careful not to fall into the pit. You should have perhaps covered it, even with some 18mm ply.
If it rains enough you might end up with a lap pool.

The disabled toilet is probably a requirement from council. It does not matter who will work there, its who might visit and that could be years down the track. Also none of us have a crystal ball to predict the future.

Yes it is a council requirement.

He has yet to get pit covers made up

OH & S should come first. Just because the covers have not been made does not prevent someone, perhaps you working on a frame, from falling in. Requires a cover or barrier.
For the cost of some ply lets say $ 100 a sheet delivered, (and that is expensive for ply) compared to the cost of an injury by fall including lost time it is cheap insurance. The ply could be used for something else latter.

There are two pits. I think they are both 10m long.

I tefrained from driving the scissor lift at 5m elevation next to the pit. Figured if it fell in I only wanted to be 1.5 off the ground

Well the end of the last day posted I got the wall up (without falling in the pit). It was a reasonable lift on my own.

Yesterday was forecast to be a sunny day with a 30% chance of 0.3mm of rain. Damn they never told me what the other 70% chance was for.

    and then 30 seconds later

    And in a short while

It looked like it had made way more than 0.3mm

Between drops I walked home for lunch. The rain gauge messured 28mm. I dont think there was any in there from the previous week and even if there was it would have evaporated by now. I emptied the gauge and during my lunch collected a further 7.5mm

After lunch the weather forcast was true. Sunny and only a 30% chance of 0.3mm. In fact it never came

Did you have any thoughts on moving the vanity closer to the lunch room wall and putting in a shower in the top right corner if council allows.

You could have had a lap pool or two.
If you were in Melbourne you probably would have.

    Indoor pool. I like that

On the shower front I think the room would have to be bigger to allow disabled access to shower. Mind you other than the plumbing I suppose there is nothing stopping them from putting one in later

After that amount of rain your backyard should be sporting a nice lawn just in time for the Dooen GTG https://www.woodworkforums.com/f25/wa...28-29-gtg-2017
Last time we were there, I don't think there was a blade of grass anywhere on the property, and the ride on mower looked very forlorn (forlawn?) sitting in it's shed all dusty and cobwebby.

What size is the shed you are working in?, looks almost big enough not to say the usual "won't be big enough!"

Anyway, be careful of the open pits, and looking forward to a great weekend in January.

The owner doesn't know it yet, but where do you think the GTG is being held

Alan, the shed is 28.5m x 17.5m. The lean-to on the side is 38.5 x 9.0. The timber frame area I'm doing is almost half the size of my shed.

Sadly no lawn as yet. Between this and 10 plus hour days with the bulk storage and a week off my feet do to a knee injury it has been hard to get anything done at the house.

Long shot .... might get the lawn in? Maybe that will be day one lol

Kryn, that is a good thought. Hmmmm next door. Me's a thinking

Did not get the last lot of pics up, as mentioned, barely had time to scratch myself. So, we got the ceiling joist cut up.

    and layed out

Then a simple job of putting them up and fixing

You may have noted the ceiling battens on the underside. Possibly they have a screw or two but initially just sitting on the wall each end of the kitchen

After a little break the A/C man and sparky have had time to rough in and I've been back to screw the battens in place

Still have to cut pieces for the toilet ceiling. Off to chase up industrial grade floor vinyl first and a quack visit for my knee
