Welcome to the Pacific Northwest.
Pleased to see what you found for a wood shop.
I could live in the Sea-Tac area without blinking.

No lathe in amongst all that machinery? Interesting...

They have one. It's tucked in a hallway and has no dust extraction. Turning is not something that has been a significant part of the woodworking that goes on here, so, while all of the other machinery is in great shape and extremely well maintained, the lathe is pretty bad off. It's not the worst lathe I've ever used, but it's close. Really a true piece of crap. I don't mean to sound ungrateful. There could be no lathe and that would be a significant problem for me. But y'know... calling it how I see it. It's crap.
It's an unfortunate side effect. I'm very seriously considering trying to replace it or talk the owner of the shop into replacing it. It's usable, but after going from 2HP EVS and 16" of swing to what I have now, it's tough, to say the least.

I guess with that sort of shared workshop, if none of the users are keen on turning that's what happens.
Met many of the other tenants yet? Sound them out and then gang up on the owner if they are keen !

Luke
That set up looks so good. Glad you have fallen on your feet. Perhaps I should consider renting out part of my shed......
Nah! The roof is the only bit unoccupied and while there is standing room, that is for one person only !

This looks like a great space to work. Having your personal workbench and hand-tools with access to large common machinery is such a great way to work, and having these other artists sharing the space will be great inspiration. It's amazing that it's right next door. I've never even heard of spaces like this in Australia. You can never move now.
Good things come to those who wait, and sail right past those who don't reach out and grab them.
