    Default Timber storage upgrade

So I just upgraded my timber storage shelving. Previously I was using some components of a slatwall system which was a quick and easy solution but I lived in fear of the day when it all comes crashing down.

After a bit of consideration I decided on a system of 4x2s braced with plywood - see the pic. I've used 300mm lengths of framing timber, braced with 12mm or 18mm ply, screwed with 32mm gib nails and glued with Titebond 2. All attached to 1750mm uprights from framing timber. And screwed to the studs with 6 100mm screws in each upright.

The whole lot cost about $140.

I can now hang my entire body weight from a single rail, so no more fears of it falling down in the middle of the night. And I reckon I'll be able to safely stack as much timber as I can fit on there.

I can get 3m lengths on the bottom four shelves and about 4.5m lengths on the top two. I've left some space on the right for sheet storage under the shelves.

Looks like a nice inviting shed with all the timber paneling. The new shelving should work great with plenty of strength.
