I just noticed that all the photos didn't upload, at least two were missing, maybe due to the size of the post. I will try again to load the missing ones.

The burl, blank and block racks now fill floor to ceiling, both sides of the garage area of the shed. They do not intrude into the car / bike /ute /boat parking area at all

Based upon some of the Likes and comments, I thought I would add a montage or panoramic view of my racks. I am quite proud of them, they represent many hours in the bush, cutting, hauling, bands awing, sealing and then waiting for them to split crack and warp so can them burn them.

These first two racks contain mostly Jarrah burl blanks for turning, plus some Wandoo burl.

The next large rack contains mostly jarrah burl slabs, down the bottom and first rack off the floor. Then speak slabs and blocks. The upper areas contain amid of camphor, Blackbutt, curly York gum, and others.

the salt bags contain the stunning pen blanks, lots of them.

Further to the first post, these racks hold purely timber blanks for turning, not stinking burls here. A mix of jarrah, Sheoak, York gum and camphor laurel, plus a mix of other timbers.

The last photo is of a rack which would have been used in a bakery to hold bread. It was being thrown out, when I grabbed it. It has wheels and the baskets can be lifted off.

This rack contains all the burls which I carve, or sometimes turn. They are mostly York Gum Burls, my fave!

Now, some people may think that this is a lot of timber, but remember the timber will need at least 4-5 years to dry. Plus, I reckon I am not getting any younger or stronger, so am stockpiling for when I get a bit older and retire.

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen
First day of Chrissy leave, and now a lot of hard work starts as I prepare to move house and workshop. The move is just to the next suburb.

What I have recently built is an LVL trolley, which has proved to be a real boon in the workshop. It saves me lugging slabs and rounds back and forth. I find I am realising more uses for it and every time I marvel at it's versatility. It is a real back saver! It can be used as a portable workbench as well. I determined the final height of the trolley as the same height as the bandsaw. This means I can unload slabs from the ute, wheel them into the turning area and process the timber into rounds and blocks. Note the rack under the trolley which is designed to hold rounds? I also ensured that the trolley would fit through doors.
The rack is made from 2, 5 meter long LVLs. I glued and screwed them together, added the wheels and used an coffee table top I had lying around. The table top is black fleck Jarrah with a Sheoak border. Most people would be very happy to have it their house.

The trolley is so useful, I fully intend making another, when the move is over

Hello all, with summer approaching, I have found the shed to be too bright and hot with the late afternoon sun beaming in, I thought it would benefit from a tint. Utes I recieved were in the vicinity of $300 bucks, I was pretty confident I could do it, and cheaper. I bought the tint from Bunnings, and armed with a mister and my daughters shampoo, she and I did the tinting. We worked well as a team, but daughter was keen for new skills so she continued on and did the tinting herself. As soon as the first window was done, I knew this was the right thing to do, no heat and less light, brilliant. She did a good job.

now that I had moved some tools to the workshop, I was concerned about security, so I bought some galvanised mesh, taught the daughter how to mark out and cut it with an an angle grinder, with all the right PPE, of course. Her next task was to mark out where the screws to attach it to the walls should go, then she learn how to use a hammer drill and drive the screws in. She did it all, learnt new skills and also meant I was able to work on other things.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen
Been flat out with work etc, but finally got some time to post where the shed is up to. I may have overlooked a few things, but I now have the lathes in situ, the bandsaw in place, the carving station set up, and sorted through a heap of stuff and found homes for them
I have installed a new 3 hPa dust extractor and today, I spent the day in air conditioned comfort turning some priests for fisherman, a toilet roll holder for the kids bathroom and 7 bowls and platters for shops and galleries, not a bad days effort for a young fellow.

Priests are used by fisherman to administer the last rites to fish when brought onboard. WA fish deserve to hit with only the finest WA timbers, these are Jarrah, Sheoak and the rather large one is Blackbutt (I call this one a Mackeral tamer).

Storage. I also scored a heap of these metal cabinets for free, they are awesome and I got heaps of them.

Yes, a little agricultural, but works very well for me now, especially after moving to the new workshop where I now draw fresh air from outside. After a good days turning, I know my airways are free of dust.

Good morning ladies and gentlmen
Those who will have followed this thread may have noticed that I have built a magnificent workshop to keep me off the streets and out of the pubs, fully air conditioned for summer. One evening, I had approximately 20 pens to assemble for an order. I started about 1700 and left the workshop at 1830, it was bitterly, I was cold through to my core and it took hours for me to feel sufficiently thawed. That was the day I decided I must have a fire!!!!! Also, since I am now semi retired, I find that I spend more time in the shed of a morning when it is bitterly cold, even in WA!
I installed a good wood fire in the house in Jan, but time for a cheap one in the workshop. I settled for a $1200 fire from BBQs Galore, 3 speed fan (a Norseman Nevada).
Well, I have now burnt it in and fired it up good and proper, and wow, what a difference it makes, I can't wait to get to the shed at times, and am reluctant to leave. It makes the shed so much more usable. Plus, I can get rid of offcuts etc
