Wiring an old extension phone bell
So, I have an old phone extension bell that I'm looking at mounting in the shed and wiring to a push-button on the front door. A door-bell if you like.
I vaguely remember these bells running on 70VAC (20Hz) being pumped down the line but I'm very far from sure; it's been decades since I played with them last. Does anyone remember the old Telstra specs?
I wish I could just plug a wall-wart in series with the switch and bell but I suspect that's not feasible... most likely I'll set up an arduino with a small DC line to the door-switch and a separate circuit to the ringer.
Anyone got alternatives or other advice?

They are definitely an AC bell. The cheapest way to get them to ring is to feed them with a square wave generated with a pair of transistors.
Here is a simple circuit but you will have to find a pair of transistors that will run at about 100V and create a DC supply to suit.

I just bought a wireless unit for my shed from Aldi for $9.99. The door switch can be clipped on and off so I only clip it on when i’m In the shed.
Additional.
