    Hi,
this is my entry. I guess it's a one-piece, closed end, "Feather Pen".
The barrel end was turned and drilled on the lathe, then it was removed from the lathe, and the feather end was bandsawed and carved to shape.
It was finished off the lathe for obvious reasons.
Parts that were used out of the Copper Slimline kit were, both brass tubes (one was shortened), the nib, transmission and refill.
The refill retacts and extends by turning the nib.

Material = White Cedar, and a Copper Slimline kit.

Type of finish = 1 coat of BLO , 5 coats of Ubeaut White Shellac , 4 sprayed on coats of NC Lacquer, rubbed back with EEE, then 1 application of Canauba wax.

This one is the standard gold components made from white mallee with a red-gum band (both timbers were from the Flinders Rangers of South Australia) with a piece of alum ( coke can) on each side of the red-gum.
The finish is 12 coats of medium CA with automotive wax and polish as a final finish.
The box is made from brown Quondong.

Congrats Ironwood, yours was a standout for me amongst a solid field
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

    Thanks Guys.

Thanks to MBUMIK for thinking up the idea to have the challenge.
Also thanks to the others who entered, and to the judges and others behind the scenes.

The feather pen idea was about the third plan I thought of for my entry, the first couple were discarded because they were a bit hard to work out how to achieve what I wanted.
I really enjoyed making the pen, it was a lot of fun working out how to make it look like the idea I had in my head. I think I got it pretty close to what I wanted.

I didnt think it would win when I entered it, I thought someone would create something really over the top.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the next challenge, whatever it may be.
Hopefully the number of participants will increase with future challenges.
