He has dropped his prices considerably. Most of the saws were originally priced around $800!

The handles are standard size, erring slightly smaller than usual owing to our tendency to use an extended index grip. The prices reflect they they're now an auction, vs pricing 'buy it now' and using the new price as a gauge, so nothing unusual in that regard other than it assumes more risk.

Why so many negative jibes at this poor bloke by numerous members over a couple of treads - even after he has posted here?
It all appears to be above board and nobody knows how/why the tools were acquired or why they are being sold which is also not anybody else’s business.
For an auction to generate some interest it needs to be started low, which is a big risk of the seller, but can also set the market price without having to haggle with the tire kickers on Facebook. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Thanks for that. The saws weren't even for me, they were for my wife, although we both used (some) on them on occasion. They weren't originally priced close to 'new', contrary to what many people seem to think - the mesquite wasn't cheap. The only thing we priced close to, or above, new prices was the Vesper, which sold. The bad axe are so hard to price that, like you said, an auction was the only thing remaining to figure out what they're worth. As for the Sauers even Konrad doesn't know how to price them and I think everyone can agree that Konrad is an expert in Konrad's own planes. Those prices won't significantly change and I'd be more than happy to keep them - there's a reason they went up last.
I guess that for some people it doesn't matter if we chase a 'high' price or auction them for nominal starting values - there's always something to criticise and be uncharitable about in the safety of anonymity on a forum.

Hi Airbag9. Sorry if anything I said caused upset. Certainly not my intention. I am probably only reflecting my ignorance of of what boutique saws really cost. I have not sold anything on Ebay so have not had to price tools either. And now I think about it, there must be some significant reason behind the sale, so I can only hope that things will be okay and wish you all the best.
