Do you think this is an unreasonable asking price? If so, what should I be asking? I've only had a couple of 'tyre kickers' inquire so far.

Price seems reasonable to me. The 3 phase might be turning some off. It is a matter of just waiting for the right person to want what your listing in the end.

I guess 3 phase and lots of weight give you a limited market. The other issue might be that without the switch and plug wired up, there’s no way to test it before buying - this would worry me a little if I was a potential buyer.

If you were in NSW, I’d certainly be sniffing around (when SHMBO isn’t looking!), but I’d be pricing in converting to single phase.

No idea about its worth - seems like a quality tool.

OK. Thanks. Just didn't want people thinking "Tell him he's dreaming!"

I think you do need to look at your price. If you look at the common 14" bandsaw, you are getting about the same rip capacity that it seems yours has (going from the picture). Those go 2nd hand from say $350 up, maybe a tad less, so yours has a significant price premium there for someone who was thinking that a 14" would be "enough". Perhaps what you can do to help bolster interest is really talk about the benefits that you'd get above one of those.

Thanks poundy. I looked at a 14" lightweight bandsaw (generic type, GMC brand, a few years old, belonging to a nearby friend). It screamed like a banchee cutting through a piece of Jarrah joist 100mm thick and vibrated terribly. I don't think the comparison is realistic...just as buyers of old Bentleys probably don't look at Tata cars as an alternative.

I think the 3 phase is more of a potential problem for a sale than the price. As rev has pointed out you cannot really compare this saw with a generic 14". And by the way guys rev really is a reverend so hopefully we can rely on him to be scrupulously honest and straight forward in his dealings.

I'm good with Rev being a Reverend - I trust anyone
I still think that someone in the "general" audience would look at the comparisons that I made - I know when I was looking around I'd be more price conscious and see this as overkill for anything I was looking for... But as rightly pointed out, this is a seriously constructed machine for someone needing those capabilities - just depends if you want to have it move on in a hurry or not (I guess pricing of 2nd hand stuff always is a tradeoff like that!)

This is what you are up against -20 inch 3 phase Italian machine for $300. The old Woodfast is a reputable Australian brand (I think the modern Woodfast are now manufactured overseas and are lighter duty). The old Woodfast machines are renowned for their solid build quality. But given the limited resaw capacity and 3 phase power source being required, I reckon you would have more success in the $450-$550 price range.

Yes, someone has committed to picking it up tomorrow evening. I have paused the ad.
By the way, it was for a reduced price of $550, as suggested by woodchopper above.
