    Default Tyre Hammer

Hi Folks, I thought I'd share a picture of the tyre hammer I've been building. The ram is about 15kg or 30 pound and stroke is about 6 inches. I have yet to fix the dollies in place and counter balance the crank. It does at least 3 strokes per second.

    Cheers,
    Peter.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Once I get the crank balanced I'll start pounding some hot steel and get some videos, but first what to do about the dollies! I need to come up with a scheme to hold them for easy removal. At first I thought I should just weld them in place but I might look at making a quick change adaptor of some sort. I've got some 4140 round bar ( a section of the ram) I will forge into squares for the next set of dollies. The Ram is only case hardened and ground , no chrome plating which is good news for health reasons.
