Artisan Owners
Well I have picked up the bandsaw this morning, I thought I would ditch the blade it csme with and get a resaw blade and a general purpose blade.
I am interested in others opinions regarding tpi and blade thickness.
The manual states it can take a 30mm wide blade, has anyone done this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I use a 2tpi, 30mm wide blade for just about everything, but most of my work is resawing. I get good clean cuts in good time. My suggestion is that you find a high standard blade manufacturer (such as McDivens in Williamstown Victoria) and discuss what you want to achieve. They will probably offer you a solution fitted to your needs. Makes all the difference. I'm sure there will be a suitable blade maker in Brisbane.
Regards,
Rob

If the budget allows buy a Carbide tipped blade such as Lennox Trimaster for re-sawing, the finish off the blade is simply astounding. In my humble opinion a 3/4" blade is as wide as you need go for re-sawing as the saw is going to apply maximum tension to the blade where it might not to the 30mm blade. Re-sawing is all about beam strength in the blade and not so much about band width in my experience.

That makes sense. I'll talk to the manager of the sharpening business about that.

With respect to the carbide blade, I would suggest that unless you’re positive the saw can tension a 30mm blade, rather than marketing specs, you purchase a cheaper one first, then replace with a carbide blade when it needs replacing.

Lance,
I would only be getting a bi metal blade for resawing, i cant justify the price of a carbide tipped blade. An earlier post stated that he ran a 30mm blade I nelieve successfully so some credence should be placed in his judgement also.

I had a chatvto the machinist and owner and It was recommended that I use a 1" by 1 tooth percinch for resawing (bimetal) and a 3/8" 4tpi bi metal for smaller work. I have a 5/8" that came with it as well.
