Better go to Paris for the official metre, at certain temperatures.

Thank you Bodgy for those two useful bits of information, but why did he keep saying "not tonight Josephine" ?

25th July 2006, 09:47 AM #48Hmmm? I have two Stanley coil-up type tape measures and both are almost 4mm out when compared to a good metre steel rule - one one way, and the other the other way.
I always check that the foot moves the correct amount to compensate for it's thickness and I check the first 100mm on a steel rule before I buy one. I've got about 5 tapes and none of them are that far out, maybe a mil at most compared to my 1 metre steel rule."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Now I think about it, it is all my fault.
I have a dud JET bandsaw, I have 6 other bandsaw blades which wrongly marked as 93.5” and by the smallest possibility they all fit perfectly to my dud JET bandsaw. And my tape measure… hang on, I can't be 6 foot 1. It is faulty.

I was hoping to order some quality bs blades from the above famous supplier in Sydney. I live in Perth. I cannot afford the postage back and forth.

The last 2 orders I've placed with them have arrived with no problems, so it isn't all bad. The latest was about a month or so ago - couple of 1/8" blades and a 5/8" 3tpi bimetal, and I can't remember if there were any others, but they all fitted perfectly.

Wongo,at least you can drive over to them and sort it out. I all ways got the right length but they substituted a crap brand. Dont deal with them anymore, use a place in QLD called Combined Saw & Knife, Much better to deal with, and they send what you order.
Regards Croc.
PS, ohe thing to remember, if you are using 1 TPI the blade will be made to the nearest tooth, ie 1 inch longer or shorter.
