    That right Steve?
Nearly: The blade generally comes off the wheel at mid point, so, and assuming that both wheels are of the same diameter), then it's:
    PiR+2S
    Where Pi=3.142
R =Radius of wheel (centre to belt flat, not outer rim)
    S =Distance between wheel centres

I am unsure of the formula, I think its the circumference and Pi r squared is the area.

    Always get them confused.

You're rights with the two half wheels plus the two straight bits. What I'm postulating is that two halves make a whole. I think I'm on firm ground here!

Woody, I don't know about Wongo's bandsaw but my blade was so long the top wheel ran out of adjustment (it hit the top of the case) before the blade was tight.

Thats why we would have liked a blade that was within the range of the correct length.

The replacement blade finally arrived last week. Yesterday I took it out of the box and measured it, GREAT! this time it is 93”. Now it is too short. I measured it 4 times and it is still too short. [hands on the table, shaking my head]

I adjusted the top wheel to the lowest position and fitted it in with a bit of fiddling.

The whole thing is a joke and I ain’t going back to them anymore.

The blade I got off them last week fitted like a bought one on my Jet 14", as did the resaw blade I got off them last year.
    I haven't tried the 1/4" blade, maybe I should

    I don't understand.

Ditto the two I bought last year. No problems fitting them.

Must be your fault, Wongo. You bought a dud tape measure, or bandsaw, or both

Sounds like you need to send them your measuring tape....

Or, buy a bandsaw joining kit and do it yourself.

    G'day,

Can't remember if I posted this earlier or not but had the same problems from H Bros.

Perhaps they got mixed up after watching the Simpson's episode of the bully, where Prof Frink shouts out "Pi is exactly 3". H Bros must have modified all their formulae to comply!

    Then Wongo's formula 2*Pr*(37.8cm+0.15cm) = 238.4 cm
    would become 2*3*(37.8cm+0.15cm) = 227.7cm

    ie 10.7cm difference......

    Hey, it is one explanation!!!!

    You mean it's not?

Hmmm? I have two Stanley coil-up type tape measures and both are almost 4mm out when compared to a good metre steel rule - one one way, and the other the other way.

I only use them as a general guide, and have them marked so I know which is which.

As a matter of interest, as most of us have a number of measuring implements, try comparing them against each other over a marked reference distance - say a metre. I think you might be surprised...

Further still, if you care to come over (UK) and go to Greenwich they have the world official rod of 1 yd. and is accepted at a certain temperature I suppose.
