Bandsaw blade speed
I have just bought a new BS, a Sheppach 2HP, to replace my old Chinese generic POS.
It runs two speeds, 800 and 1200 fps. I will use two blades, a 25mm and 12mm both bi-metal, the first for re-sawing large lumps and the second for general cutting.
Would appreciate advice on which speed is appropriate for what. Predominately work with Oz hardwoods, inc much cranky grain.Bodgy

1200fps.....you probably mean 1200fpm (feet per minute)?
if so,this seems pretty slow speed for resawing to me.I usually use speeds between 3000 & 4500fpm for resawing either hard or soft woods with 3 or 2 teeth/inch hook type blades & use the widest blade your saw can accommodate.
