    Default bandsaw drive belt

Hi all, I just purchased a second hand Carbatec 14inch bandsaw, approx 5 years old, and noticed the drivebelt needs replacing, not the tyres. Does anyone have any info on where I could purchase one from. cheers.

Most bearing places stock a range of belts, take your original one with you and see if they can match it from stock or order one in for you.

Probably but it may be dearer from Machinery House or Carbatec than from a bearing place.

ok thanks for that, I was just in supercheap today to get circlip remover, buggers to remove without it, the belt itself is 620mm long I did cut to remove, and 8mm wide, Hopefully chase one up, and need a good blade as well, mainly doing bandsawboxes,

Ok got a drive belt from carbatec and new blade from henry bros, but I did notice when I put the drive belt that only half of the belt is running on the bottom wheel v, if that makes sense. Tried it on the faster setting and the same thing only half the belt is making contact with the wheel, it makes full contact with the motor end. Is this normal on a 2speed bandsaw?, any advise is appreciated.

Is the belt actually wider than the pulley or are the two pulleys are of line with each other causing you to only use part of the pulley? Polyvee belts are normally the same width as the pulley, but you can split them between the vee's to reduce their width if you need.

Treecycle the veebelt and pulley are the same size, attached are some photos. I did find that if I adjust one of the 4 bolts at back of bandsaw the ones in the photo, that it tracks the vee belt in or out, my question is how do I properly adjust it so that it tracks straight on the pulley but still doesn't effect the bandsaw blade, is there a way, to do this.

    Hi newbie76,
I have found that a 3mm 14tpi blade to be the best for band saw boxes.

    Default V Belt

    Hi
The thing that it could be is the tension pulley maybe jamming on the shaft as that was what was an issue on mine I just cleaned the shaft now it will track true to the other pulleys
    Cheers Rod

Normally one can just put some side pressure on those multi V belts and force them to ride in their respective tracks

Those multiV's will also take a fair bit of side tension before they jump out of their V's.

But being significantly out of alignment is maybe why the old one broke of ideally it should be aligned.

I suspect the Band wheel is left alone and its the motor that is moved in and out to suit - that's how mine is rigged up.
