I recently got the Laguna LT14 SUV - I don't have any complaints about it, well made and comes with a 3HP motor.

Any reason why you have chosen 14"? On a tight budget? Or do you have the ability (regardless of current willingness...) to spend more? Space limited?

I'd suggest looking at the Laguna models but don't dismiss the Laguna lt18; as with most power tools bigger is better in my opinion (doesn't really take up that much more floor space). Alternatively the Minimax 16" is reputably one of the best small/mid size bandsaws around and doesn't cost much more than a laguna lt18 after a few accessories. I would probably get the Minimax if I had my time again (have the lt18 and am happy with it but the Minimax just looks far more robust again).

many are very happy with their Hammer bandsaws -- N4400 or N3800.

    Hello and welcome, Noreik.

At our Men's Shed we run a Timbecon 14inch deluxe bandsaw BAS-350-B. We've had this for a bit under a year and it has performed well. Timbecon is now offering a 5 year warranty I believe – this suggests that they have some confidence in their product. We've resawn redgum, spotted gum and other tough woods.

Whatever saw you get, I strongly recommend watching this YouTube video of Alex Snodgrass's bandsaw clinic on setting up a bandsaw. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU. And blow some money on a really good blade.

Please keep us posted on how you go.

    Brian

PS The saw mentioned above is around $1300 new. If your budget runs to $2500 or so I'd certainly be drooling over the Laguna SUV.
