Thread: Bought a Harvey Ambassador C14 today

l have been on the search for a used bandsaw up here in Darwin for a month or so now and to no avail, small place + low population, so not much around. So the search for a decent new bandsaw has been in progress for a few weeks now. With the current stock levels so low in Australia atm with a few brands this made things a bit difficult, plus the price of freight to Darwin (ouch).

I have been scouring this forum about the pros and cons of different brands until my head nearly exploded with information overload. Wanted to go mid range price and as always when l`m buying something l always go that one step further.
Well l had to jump at the last Harvey Ambassador C14 in Australia from GregMach in Brissy @ $3185 (apparently and no more arriving until Xmas and probably at a higher price), to sweeten the deal because of the high freight charges to Darwin (or maybe because l`m such a nice guy ), they replaced the bearings guides with the ceramic guides free of charge. l`ve read so many pros and cons in regards to the bearing guides vs the ceramic guides so l hope l`ve done right thing.

GregMach quoted me a bit over $600 freight, which l thought was a bit excessive and now l`m on the hunt for a freighter who can do better. For example, a quote from Adelaide to Darwin for a Leda BS400 was $195 through a company up here using NorthLine.

Anyway, l`m now the owner of a great bandsaw that`s still sitting in a warehouse in Brissy, can`t wait to get my hands on it.
