    Default BP355 guides upgrade?

This is my first band saw and a recent purchase so ignorance is probably a factor, but I've watched all the videos and read all the advice I can find.
And you get what you pay for, but the upper guides are especially clunky and stiff and I haven't been able to adjust them properly for a 6mm blade.
So no. 1 question are there any bolt on upgrade options that are recommended? 2. Is there an equivalent machine on the American market I can research?

    Thanks

    Craig

    Hi Craig
For small blades a small blade stabiliser is often used. It is basically just the back bearing with a groove in it and the side guides are not used. The guys making bandsaw boxes should be able to advise as I have not used one.
I have the BP355 BTW and find it to be a good all round saw. I did do a couple of bandsaw boxes a few years back just for the heck of it but I did not get the bug so never got around to getting a small blade stabiliser.

I believe Gregory Machinery in Brisbane also has the agency for carter guides and they are a bit closer to you.

"most other cast 14 inch" doesn't really inspire much confidence, has anyone used these on a Hafco machine?

I've emailed GregMach but personal experience is preferred over a salesman's word.

Have you tried the smaller blades at all?
Other than this problem with the guides it's done all that I've wanted it to do. Although saying that I haven't used it as much as I'd thought I would.

    Cheers guys

    Craig,
From memory I used a 1/4'' or 6mm blade. I found I could not adjust the side guides of the lower set so just took then off for the job. Top set only just made the adjustment. Not Ideal but I made 4 bandsaw boxes that way. Blade tended to want to twist so backed and filled a bit on the tight curves.
I wonder is anyone else makes those guides as they seem a bit pricey for what they are.
Actually having started the first line with ''from memory'' I then had to dig out the old thread for the details.
    Regards
    John
What the heck. Give it a go
