    Default Carbatec or Sherwood 14"

    Guys,

I am looking for a 14" bandsaw for general woodworking and making composite archery bows. The two i have named are in my price range, who owns either of these and what are you likes dislikes. The carbates i am looking at is the single speed. I may also look at a Hafco unit but the distributor i found in perth wants a $100 delivery no matter where it goes to in perth. All your comments are appreciated.

I have the Carbatec SW-1401 model which is probably the one you are referring to?

I find it adequate for my needs and once set up correctly can do a good job. I have made some changes/upgrades to it however that have made it a much better saw...

    1. Added a Kreg Precision Bandsaw Fence.
    2. Changed the stock blade guides for ceramic guides.
    3. Added a link belt to the motor to reduce vibration.

I have the Sherwood. Trust me don't buy it.

Re the delivery, you can fit the 14" BS in a normal car. I did.

I've got the C/Tec unit and it is fantastic - no problems and very accurate. I have 1 piece of S/wood equipment and it is rubbish.

Go with CT or something else.

    Cheers SB
