Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I have had to pull out of the race to supply these boards - the quantity required was simply untenable with my increasing workload.
Thank you all for the insights and advice though.

Hi Anthony,
sorry to hear you had to pass up on that job. I had a Hafco BP-500 that I used for resawing but sold it due to some of the issues others have covered here. I replaced it with a Hammer N4400 that I use exclusively for resawing. This machine is fitted with ceramic guides and a 2.5Kw motor and I run 27mm wide 1TPI blades for breaking down small 1200mm long logs into slabs. I also have the ability to clamp the logs on my panel saw to cut two reference edges before the band saw. After suitable air curing I cut one reference straight edge on a panel saw then cut down again into thinner sections on the bandsaw before final finishing on a thicknesser. I also use a 27mm x 6TP bandsaw blade depending on the timber. I mostly use local blackwood and silky oak as well as other hardwoods. Whilst it is very satisfying producing timber this way it is quite hard work and can take a toll on your body if any volumes are involved. There is a good article on this aspect in the Aust.Wood review issue no 95 that shows a set up of a power feeder fitted to a Hafco bandsaw.
Cheers,
Paintman
