Diagnosing blade issue
Hi all
I've recently purchased a refurbished 2nd hand Carbatec 14" bandsaw. It has a 6 mm, 6 tpi blade fitted.
Bearings are all nice, tracking is fine. I can't see any back and forth motion which would suggest that the weld was crocked.
On cutting, there is a distinct "chug-chug" sound, and there are distinct cut marks on the timber.
Spinning the wheels by hand, with the timber in place, I've narrowed the sound down to when the blade weld passes the work piece.
Having a quick look at the join, it appears that the teeth on either side of the weld (and on the weld) have no set. Could this be the origin of my issue?
Are there any other suggestions?
Thanks

Simple method to determine this - try another blade.
I would anyway be looking at one with 3 tpi, not 6 tpi. The latter is more likely to have difficulty shedding sawdust, and this will create problems with tracking.

Hey Masher,
I agree with Derek re trying another blade, although I have never heard of a 6 mm blade with 3 tpi ( I need to get out more,
6 mm blades cost bugger all, I'd get onto Henry Bros or similar and buy some quality.
I am as tight as a fishes proverbial, but I have learnt the hard way that cheap consumables are cheap for a reason.
Cheers,
