It's a Hare and Forbes BP430 Skot. I know H&F have the tyres but I am sure
I read somewhere that there are better tyres available.

Gregory Machinery in Brisbane stock some items out of the "Carter Bandsaw Products" range. Carter's Urethane Bandsaw Tyres might be what you're looking for, if they make a size that will fit your bandsaw. The following is the link to Gregory Machinery's relevant page. If the tyre that Carter's make is the right diameter, but is too wide for the rim of the wheels on your bandsaw, I have found it to be pretty easy to trim the excess urethane tyre after fitting to the wheel. Trim using a sharp Stanley style knife.

This link to Carter's own web site, also includes some fitting details, such as the Urethane Tyres not normally being glued on, whereas the conventional rubber tyres are normally glued on. Carter in the USA sell both the Urethane Tyres, and the Rubber Tyres, along with the glue etc for the rubber tyres. They also sell some specialised tools for fitting the tyres, but I've not needed their special tools for doing up to 18 inch bandsaw tyres - maybe larger bandsaw wheels will benefit from Carter's specialist tools.

    Hope that info helps.

I bought my urethane tyres from Sulphur Grove Tools (www.stools.
com). I also asked them for a starting set of 4 blades. Their choices on my behalf were excellent.
