Hafco BP 352 or 355
Anyone got a 352 or 355 Bandsaw? Good / Bad points?
If not do you have a view on 750W versus 1500W motors on Bandsaws and what extra you get. I know it's twice as many watts but does that mean twice as easy to cut through big timber for veneers? Or twice as easy to cut through aussie hardwoods assuming blades and guides are equal?
HH.Always look on the bright side...

I have the 16A and it did not cut straight when i got it but with a new blade it has does everything i want it to do. I think it has plenty of power too. Hope that helps.

If you want the full cutting height for veneers, you'll need the bigger motor. The smaller motor will struggle with full height veneer cutting.

I bought the bp355 because of the roller guides and it seemed to be finished better than the 16a and after putting a decent blade on it, can't be happier. I resawed a 200mm piece of hw the other day and it had no trouble doing that. I am currently using the 3tpi starret blade from hafco.
Hope this helps

Agree with Robert,
I bought the 355 last year and I am REALLY happy with it. I preferred the look of it to the 16a, it seemed better finished. It was easy to assemble and not too hard to set-up.
Mine cuts perfectly but you really must upgrade the blade, the one it comes with is ordinary.
I have not had any problems in terms of its power. With a Henry Brothers blade I can rip to the limit of the saw with no troubles. When you are ripping smaller stuff, ie 2-3 inch thick hardwood it goes through the wood like knife through butter.
One ctriticism of the 355 is that the ?trunions are not cast iron, that maybe important to you if you plan on adjusting the angle of the table frequently, I dont know how robust the steel it. It is irrelevant for me as I keep the table at 90 degrees all the time.
I hope that helps,
