Jet 14"problem
Having an issue with the old jet bandsaw = this is the second or third set of thrust bearings since new - see pic below - the thrust bearing is dropping and binding on the guide housing - Bottom bearing is fine - Always used this size bearing and wonder should I go for a slightly smaller diameter thrust at the top. There seems to be a lot of play in the adjuster shaft - I can tighten up the side screw so it is free of the guide housing but as soon as you lean into it the bearing drops back onto the guide housing.
Any tips or advice would be very welcome

Is it the shaft slopping around in the hole in the aluminium housing?
Do you know what the No. of the bearing is or the dimensions?Dallas

That bearing is a shielded bearing, it would have a number like 6200Z stamped on the pressed metal shield. The actual number supplied by a bearing company would be 6200ZZ indicating shields on both sides.
You need a sealed bearing in dusty situations, a number like 6200-2RS (two rubber shields) or 6200 LLU. Different material in the seal, just depends on the manufacturer.
Check the actual bearing number or take the old one to a bearing supplier. Yours could be 6201, 6202 etc, bit hard to tell from the photo. They are pretty cheap, might be worthwhile checking the other guide bearings.

Thanks for the responses - The bearing is 6200Z and is still spinning freely - I have on hand 3 spares
The shaft which the thrust bearing is mounted on is slopping in the housing.
I don't see how replacing the bearing will solve this as the shaft is so sloppy it drops after adjustment and makes contact with the blade guide housing directly below it.
The clearance there is not a lot.
See the short video below which demonstrates the problem quite eloquently.
The blade is running pretty much center on the tyre. I guess I could get it running a bit further back and push the blade guides a bit further forward. But really there isn't much room for adjustment

You could cut up a Coke can and wrap a strip of the aluminium around 7 sides of the hexagon and just leave the flat where the locking screw contacts clear. That would help to close up the clearance to reduce the slop. Might need more than one layer if there is a lot of gap.
The other option if you wanted more clearance would be to change the bearing to one with a smaller OD.
You have 2 options here. Your current 6200 bearing will be 10 x 30 x 9. A 6000 bearing will be 10 x 26 x 8 or a 61900 will be 10 x 22 x 6. Obviously these 2 options are slightly narrower but that could be shimmed up in some way.

I have some ally flashing that will do that job - sounds a bit like a plan - the smaller OD bearing I'll look at if I cant get it right by packing the shaft.
Update
Something I hadn't noticed before is that the bearing screw mounting hole in the hexagonal shaft is offset and was sitting in mid position. So by rotating the screw mounting hole to the top position and adding an ali shim on three sides I have a solidly mounted thrust bearing with a good 4mm clearance to the guide mount housing.

Although a straight forward problem the frustration of not having a working bandsaw clouded my perception.
All I could think of was throwing money at it ie a new $150 guide and thrust bearing assembly from carbatec.
Probably money well spent but I like this solution better.

Good pickup finding the bearing mount being eccentric. You have now learnt something new about your bandsaw.
