Jet 14" Deluxe price
I'm seriously thinking about getting a 14" Jet Deluxe in the next few days.
I've seen it at Braeside and the people there seem like pretty good guys.
They quoted me $800.
Has anyone who has bought there had any experience of them doing any better on the RRP that they quote?

I bought my bandsaw today from Woodworking Warehouse in Braeside. The people there are great to deal with and were kind enough to sharpen their pencil on the price.
I got the 14" deluxe Jet with a fence for $750.
I haven't picked it up yet but I'm looking forward to getting it.

You won't be sorry and make sure you order a couple of bimetal blades b4 you pick it up. 1/4 + 1/2" The blade in it is 3/8" I think

Old Picker,
I've never used one of these things before. I'm new to woodwork.
I haven't worked out what I need in the blade department yet. I figure, to start with, I'll be cutting some mdf and some Tassie Oak, nothing any thicker than 40mm. Mainy straight but some curves.
Will the blades you suggested cover that or will I need more?
I had intended researching this over the next couple of days.

Good price and the advice about the bimetal blade is very good too. It makes a lot of difference, as do ceramic blade guides from Northwood tools. Fit them flush up to the blade but back a couple of whiskers from the teeth and they will keep the blade really straight; and they don't seem to wear or need constant adjustment like cheaper guides. With these additions your saw will actually perform like the books and magazine articles say it should.

1/4" bimetal for small tight work
3/8" in the box is an allrounder
1/2" bimetal or bigger if you want to resaw
ask the guy at WWWarehouse what TPI to get for the resaw blade...
That will pretty much get you into most things to start with. The bimetals last a lot longer than standard blades and you can cut metal as well with them. [slowly]
If you dont wnt to spend up front just go with what is in the box...
That will certainly get you started and you will soon find what blades you are lacking..ray c

Thanks guys for the advice.
Wolfs, I'll investigate those ceramic guides once I've got her up and running.
Picker, I'll be getting those blades when I pick it up.
Now I need to go out and get a stack of wood so I can cut it all up.
