You should be able to replace the motor with any electric motor that has the same specs. The original motor, I think, was 550W, but any motor that has similar physical dimensions (so that it fits inside the cabinet) should be Ok. Things to check are the speed. 3000rpm or 1500rpm (ie two or four pole motors) and the shaft diameter so the pulley will fit. Ebay is probably a good source for such things, but major tool suppliers will probably have motors too.

Also, it should be a continuous rated motor. Motors listed as for "air compressors" are only intermittent use. You should budget for around $200

Definitely a second for checking switches etc as Tom has suggested. I have a BP310 which had a dodgy switch from new. More often than not, I had to push the switch two or three times for the motor to start.
I have since replaced the switch with a different style and have had no issues since.
I have also replaced the switch on my Hare & Forbes table saw and wood lathe with the same style of switch (the original switch on the lathe had the same problem as the band saw). The style of switch I now use for almost everything in my shed has a large "STOP" paddle that does not lock into position over the start button, and is much easier to operate on those occasions when the switches is "just" within reach. I have also mounted one below my bench which controls power supply to my home made router table, or to any other powered tools I plug into a double power outlet mounted beneath the bench,
