    Default Quality of 12mm blades.

I have run out of the blades my local saw doctor made for me (he is now deceased) and I now have the choice of Starrett or Excision from a new supplier. Do any of you know if these brands are any good, or do you just take pot luck when buying blades.
    rgds,

    Default Blades.

    Hi Crocy,
I like Hackasson? blades, skip tooth.
McDiven Saws, Williamstown, Melb. Vic. make all kinds of blades, & have a great Postal Service.
You ask, you get. They will sell Starrett , but are not happy about them, well, that is what he told me at the time.
I'm now using a German Blade.
    I think the Swedish Hackasson Blades is a better blade. I buy 2375mm.(14in saw) 3/8in. x 6TPI Skip Tooth = $12.80 ea.
Of course, most will tell you to get the Bi-metal Blade, a lot dearer, but last a fair bit longer.
Anyway somebody will tell you about them.
Do you really need a 12mm. Blade, as a lot of Woodies use 1/4in.
Me, I'm too rough on my saw, so I like the 3/8in. 6TPI, you can cut round timber with 1 hand, 4TPI you need a cradle.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Hi issatree,
Thanks for that info. I get the blades for the big saw from Henry Bros but I was going to get the 12mm ones from one of the places in Brissie to reduce freight, but I found its the same cost all along the east side. I need to run 12mm as this is an old meat saw and the blades run on a step in the wheels, so you can't substitute any other width. I was a bit dubious about what was offered so I will check some other supplier's. Thanks for your reply.
    Rgds,
    Crocy.
