    Ok cool, that matches my experience, but I get some deflection at feedrates it should handle, how do you judge correct blade tension for your woodmaster 1” (I’m using the bi-metal B), I suspect I’m being a bit ginger in my tensioning (I read that the tension guides are not that accurate and you might need to pish past what the gauge says).

    Basically, I tension until just over the 1" mark. That's a lot of tension. I also listen to the sigh sound of the blade, and watch if there is too much sideways movement.

    Have a look at this, it uses a vernier caliper & two clamps to measure the tension which a lot of people already have

    Thanks guys, it sounds like under-tensioning is actually a pretty common problem.
