resawing - feed rate?
I just set up my first bandsaw, never used one before and its a steep learning curve.
One question I can't seem to find an answer to is: how fast should a 2hp 20in JET bandsaw resaw a 6 in wide piece of hardwood?
Now i know this may seem a bit like: how long is a piece of string? but I would appreciate one of you experienced guys giving me a ballpark idea.
I have been doing some test cuts and it takes a couple of minutes to get through a piece of hardwood 6in wide and 18 in long. Is this normal?
I'm using the 1 inch blade that came with the machine.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Dan, That seems a bit slow to Me, I think you will get far better results if you ditch the original blade and find a better one .I have no idea of suppliers in your neck of the woods.
They say that the blades that come with the machines are only there to show you where the proper blade goes.
I have the 18" 3hp jet and when fitted with a 1" 1.3tpi blade it glides through 6" redgum with ease.
Hope this helps. Cheers StevenThe hurrier I go, the behinder I get.
