Hi Guys,
Just discovered that the upper guide holder is broken. Probably why my cuts have been a bit wavy or at least its not helping.
I've send a request for a replacement part through bunnings and on the Ryobi website, so lets see if i can get it replaced.

Back again.
So I have replaced the upper guide block and put new guides in. The alignment is a lot better and the cuts seem to be better as well.
Next step is to see if I can get a better blade. Does anyone know where I can get a blade to suit the Ryobi Band Saw in South East Melbourne? Maximum Blade Width is 3.2mm and Max Blade length is 1572mm
From what I have been able to gather, for rip cuts I should be looking for a 3TPI blade.

I’ve bought from Henry Bros in Sydney but also from this store on ebay au

if you want to rip boards, i’d go wider than 3.2mm. I may be wrong but i’m pretty sure you can’t get a 3 or 4 tpi blade in 3.2mm. You would need to go to 1/4” to get a 4 tpi. I have a 12mm 4 tpi on my small Aldi with a 1400mm blade.

12mm. However, as saw blades come in imperial size, I use up to 1/2”. The other important specification is the blade thickness. Due to the small diameter wheels and the radius the blade has to bend through, the Aldi is limited to 0.35mm or 0.014” maximum thickness which would be similar for the Ryobi.

Not sure which model you have but I looked up the RBS904 and the max blade width it specifies is 3/8". A local supplier of blades is McDiven Saws in Williamstown McDiven Saws P/L specializes in all types of bandsaws where you will have quite a few choices taking into account what Lappa says about blade thickness..

I agree McDivens will offer the best advice based on the wheel size.
