    LOL.

    $11 to splice a $14 bandsaw.

Anyone know of a bandsaw splicing service in Melbourne.
Other than Ace Saw Service P/L?

    Default The Blades.

    Hi Barry,
If you search The Forums, you will find everything you want to know.
This subject has many threads in the bowels of the forums, & youtube.
Yes I have done it many times, & you don't have to have any metal experience.
seek & yee shall find. A blade from McDivens Williamstown Vic. costs me $12.50.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    LOL

    FOR SALE

Antique 10" (254mm ) 3 wheel bandsaw with Silver Solder and brazing jig.

    1430 mm blade.
The bandsaw blade adjustment has a 10mm tolerance.
So the blade must be 1430. Not 1440. Not 1420. Not 1410.
(if your mechanical a longer adjustment screw would allow for shorter blades.)

Guy I got it from told me it was an antique and hard to setup.

    I found it almost impossible.

I spent hours trying to set it up with only about 15mins of band sawing.

    As a challenging hobby.
    As an antique.
    As parts.

You will certainly have more intelligence than I whether you buy it or not.

    I had a 1420mm 1/4" (6mm) blade tracking and cutting for about 15 mins.
When I twisted the work piece and broke the welded on the blade.

I knew the blade was on the short side when I purchased it.
I built the jig and purchased the Silver Solder just to practice my soldering on the broken blade.
For the next time one is repairable.
    My results were not encouraging.

The broken blade is now too short to work with this band saw.
So I won't be including it.

    I am including:
    A Spool of 60/40 Silver Solder/flux
A 5gm spiral of 5% (I think) of Silver Solder.
    A container of flux.
    A 3/8 x 6 tooth blade I can't get to track.
    A brazing jig I made.

    Nothing else.

None of the clamps or tools in the background are included.

    We're in Glen Iris.
Just off Burke and the Monash.
Traveling in this area during rush hour traffic is discouraged.
I'm happy to deliver or meet you within a 20km radius for free.
    Thanks,
    Barry G. Sumpter

I have soldered metal blades from my 6x4 with 50% success using a map gas torch and a jig made from a piece of Dexion angle, the best repaired blade lasted about 20 cuts (metal) while some failed immediately one even broke in a fresh spot.
oxy/acet is the best gas to use as you can "carbonize"(i think that's the correct spelling) the joint, what it does i have no idea.

Bandsaw is gone to someone who really wanted it.

Turned out to be a really nice guy as well.

He was telling me how easy it was to weld broken blades back together.
Once you get them red red red hot.

    LOL
    Thanks,
