Urethane Band Saw tyres (tires)
My band saw is 10 years old, according to the manufacturing plate. It is a bog standard 14" Hafco unit, which is pretty smick for what it is and for what I paid for it. I have been having a bit of difficulty when re-sawing small logs for turning when running the machine close to what it is capable of. Doing this brought about a closer look at the tyres as they appeared to be slipping slightly.
Upon inspection they were certainly not what I would call a snug fit, with the blade off the machine I could just move the tyres fore and aft and quite easily sideways. Plus, with age cracks appearing on the walls of the tyres, time to get new ones; I suspect they are the original tyres.
Looking around and now almost becoming an expert from the web on these tyres, I started to wonder about urethane tyres for the band saw. Eventually I became aware of "Bandsaw-tire-warehouse" a web only store with their own in-house urethane tyres. These would seem to be a more than different, maybe better band saw tyre.
Has anyone had any experience of these? Scrolling down one gets their blurb, from the horses mouth, so to speak.

No worries Matt.
I wondered about whether that link was for two or one tyres, I sent off a question to the seller and their reply, which was inside 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon/evening in the USA, confirmed that it was for a set of two tyres.
The difference between these urethane tyres, which are supposedly better and the standard rubber tyres from Hafco, is $18.50 AUD extra for the urethane ex USA. Both prices are delivered to my door, Hafco only do spares pick-up from their Sydney store.
Tempting...

It would seem that either nobody on this forum has these, or maybe anyone who has these fitted, hasn't seen, or decided to respond to my plea.
After some further thought on the matter along with some more digging, I decided to take the plunge. According to the sellers ETA, at best Wednesday the 22nd of November or at the latest, Monday the 4th of Decembe, should see me with a set of urethane tyres for my bandsaw.

Didnt see the original thread, but urethane tyres are marvelous.
Ive bought two sets of Carter blue urethanes over the years and would say they improved the tracking and accuracy considerably. They were bought from Gregory Machinery: EKAT-Service - online

Mick,
I'm sorry I meant to reply,
And this now sounds like a suck up [emoji853]
I was very interested in the site you found.
And was going to PM and see if you would like to combine shipping.
I need a another set of tires for my Woodfast bandsaw.
And noticed they have 14 inch tires suitable for a woodfast bandsaw.
The other ones I brought have no camber
So would be interested to see how these ones go.
Cheers Matt

Hmm, thanks for that. I did a test purchase for the same product, but couldn't work out freight, even though they have a freight calculator on their site. Regardless of that, their price is still more expensive without freight added. Even after I added a 10% GST surcharge to the USA purchase I have already concluded, the USA price is cheaper including freight; most of us now know that the USPS is almost prohibitively expensive.
Going on past experience, most freight in Australia for things like this, are at a minimum of $10-12 with many of them being quite close to $20 for freight. In fact I currently have an issue for a bandsaw part, one of the locking tabs for my bandsaw has broken and needs replacement. I have only been able to source this from Hafco, which is fine, but the cost really is a bit much.
This is what I need x 1 unit. The unit price is about $20.50 Inc. GST. This is a bit steep, but I can see their reasoning. Postage is the real killer as Hafco do not do spare parts pick-up anywhere except via their Sydney store. Freight is $21.50 making the cost of this single latch $42.00; still searching, maybe eventually fabricating something...

Im surprised at Hafco and the prices. Id give them a call. I've found their spare parts people to be absolutely outstanding.
Things are posted that day and I get them the next. Perhaps they are targeted towards commercial outfits where downtime is deleterious. I don't mind paying for the post for overnight, but then again it's never for a trivial bolt.

I did call them, which is how I arrived at my pricing.
I agree 100% with your statement about them being, an outstanding supplier of spare parts. They certainly have spare parts in stock, which is mostly not happening with a multiple of other suppliers in like businesses.
Their idea is sound from any business point of view; any machine is only as good as its supply of spare parts. No spare parts, no go.
I don't have a beef with them, running any business costs. As a previous business owner/operator for the last 25 years of my working life, plus, as an owner but non-operator, for another 8 years in another industry, I'm more than aware of what the real costs of running machinery and businesses are.
It is simply this; the purchase I would like, is just a tad expensive for the landed at my door price. Nothing more, nothing less.

Optimark, try Timbercon. I don't know what model you have but I have a Sherwood 14' which is the same as a Hafco 355 and the safety lock looks the same as in the photo you posted.
