    Default What have I got?

Hi all, just picked up my first bandsaw and I am looking for any info people might have on it. I did post on vintage machinery but just realised this one existed. I have already started pulling it apart in order to restore it. It appears to made of aluminium maybe, at least the metal is easy to scratch and not rusty. 20190119_114821.jpg20190119_114801.jpg20190119_114807.jpg

What is the diameter of the wheels?
What is the power rating of the motor?

Any ideas on appropriate colours? I don't like the green. And I have purchased blue tyres

How about battleship grey with yellow or red wheels?

To be honest the green gives it that steam power industrial revolution vibe. A dark British green would be closer.

Perhaps mount a steam generator around the back also. OK now I'm just getting carried away. Although just between you and me I'd seriously consider it, if that was in my workshop - don't tell anyone I said that though.

    Thanks Elan(?) and Dave,
I was thinking grey too. I'm tempted to highlight the wheels also. The current green reminds me to much of the paint my dad used to paint his toolboxes, benches and even his tractor (and he was colorblind!) Dark green might be a little too somber but I like the steampunk ethic. Pulled it all apart to paint and found no marks cast into the body. The tracking adjuster has a "44" stamped into it

I have to admit that Battleship grey is way more tasteful. Do it.

Hi all. Just found "244" stamped on the body, on top of the casting for the tensioning/tracking device

Whatever colour you paint it, it's still a cute little saw! Probably will never meet the requirements of the OH&S people so don't let them into the shed!
    I like it!

Looks good, but for the love of god PLEASE add a blade guard to the sliding bearing guide at the very least.
