Over width bandsaw blade. Can it be used ?
I have a 14" Jet band saw and have acquired a 25mm 3tpi blade for it. However the band saw specs say that a 19mm blade is the maximum to use.
Two questions:
(1) Will a 25mm 3pti blade run successfully and safely in this bandsaw? I want to re saw hardwood planks up to 100mm deep.
(2) is it possible to purchase wider (or modify the existing) rubber tyres so that a 25mm blade can be used instead of the current maximum 19mm blade ?

The tyres won't be the problem with over sized blades, the clearance around the path of the blade is where you may have problems.
It is bound to have problems with the guard for sure.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Do you know the thickness of the 25mm band?
If it is too thick it should not be run on too small a diameter set of wheels
Another issue you might have is with band tension. Wider/thicker bands should be run under a higher tension and maybe the Jet 14" cannot even generate enough tension for it to run correct and/or is not designed to cope with the tension. Sometimes the tensioner spring is not able to cope.

Thickness is about 0.5mm. It's a Laguna Shear Force blade.

I would guess the Jet will not tension a 1" blade sufficiently, in fact I would be pretty sure of it but it the price is right give it a go. The earlier Jet BS had a reputation for bending the spine of the frame when a lot of tension was applied, Google will explain the problems and when they were addressed.
