    Smile 20" Wolfenden Thicknesser

For sale is my Wolfenden Thicknesser. Everything is original and is in good working order.

It will machine timber up to 20" wide x 8” thick.

I have had this for approximately 6 years and use it on a very regular basis. The machine came from a window manufacturer in Geelong. I am selling it only as I have purchased a 630mm Wide SCM for many thousands of $$ and do not have the space to keep both.

The machine is 3 phase with a 5hp cutter motor and a 2hp feed.

The in feed roller is steel with the out feed rubber.

The cutterhead holds 2 cutters and is square. There is still plenty of life in the blades and the bolts securing the blades appear to be in good condition. The machine comes with the original socket spanner for the bolts.

The machine produces a very good finish.

The feed has 4 speeds and is easily changed. There are no belts to move or adjust like other Wolfenden machines of similar era that I have seen.

Sale includes dust hood up to, but not including blast gate and the timber out feed table which is adjustable in height.

The machine is currently set up connected to the dust extractor and can be seen working. I will be moving it from its position is approx. 2 weeks to make way for the new one. You are welcome to come over and feed some timber through.

Included is the 3 phase 10 amp 4 pin plug and approx. 4 meters of cable. If you need a longer lead, I could easily change the cable for a small additional cost.

Machine is heavy (solid). I can assist with loading. For interstate buyers, I am happy to load onto a pallet and can deliver to a depot for a negotiated additional fee.

Location - Wantirna, VIC. Please call Andrew 0404 808 034

    Buy it now $700

    Thanks for looking

Nice piece of gear, the old SCMs are about the only thing I'd call an acceptable replacement Which one did you get?

Just an update, I have someone calling past on Monday who has indicated he will buy it.

It is an awesome machine. I would keep it but do not have the space unfortunately.

Funny enough, I have not yet unwrapped the new one. It says S63 on the front. 10hp motor, knife grinder, 4 blade cutterhead, 4 speed feed. I've got it half way to the shed today. Want to run it before I sell my Wolfenden on Monday. The guy I purchased it off assurred me everything was in perfect working order. They were a window manufacturing company and this was their backup one.

    One like this? http://images.fordaq.com/p-17950000-...ner---SCM.jpeg
I reckon it's the greatest thicknesser ever made; you will never replace it.
Got one at work and it will take anything you throw at it. We spent about $5k to put a Shelix head in; one of the best investments we've made.
PM me if you want a grinder how-to lesson.

That's it, I only paid $3300 which I thought was a bargin. I should have it in place in the shed today. Getting it around the fruit trees and across my back lawn is a major task. It's so heavy. Fair to say, if I listed all the swear words spoken, you'd be reading for a week. I'll post a picture once setup and I'd love to call past for a grinder lesson.

$3300 is a bargain. Trust me, I know just how heavy it is; took 4 of us just to lift the top cover off.
Let me know when you're set up and I'll come past.
