    Default 6" Jointer

    The usual not an auction disclaimer...

    I've finally gotten my 10" jointer/thicknesser up and running, so it's time to sell off ol' faithful.
    Asking for $180.

    - 6" jointer, made in Taiwan (no brand markings that I can see);
    - 3 HSS knives have only been sharpened (ground) once since I purchased them new and are still cutting well;
    - New bearings in cutter block as of this morning;
    - ~1155mm length;
    - The tables are flat and sitting co-planar (movement and transportation may muck that up though), with no surface rust but some light splatter stains that don't effect the use;

    Much prefer pickup from Ballarat (Cardigan Village) but can deliver within 100ish km for diesel dollars if need be.

    Being the honest idiot that I am...whilst it runs smoothly, it has a screamingly loud squeal coming from somewhere. The bearings I replaced this morning were shagged, but the new ones don't seem to have made much difference. Otherwise I haven't put much effort into locating the problem. Ear muffs are a must...as they should be anyway.

    Cheers

    Just to be clear about the squealing noise because I don't want to subject anyone to buyer's remorse...

    I've uploaded a quick video of the squealing noise this jointer makes compared to my other one.

    A little listen this evening has me thinking it's coming from the motor rather than the cutter block. I'm not familliar with motors that size so can't say for certain that it's a simple home job to fix. For the few years I've had it, it's made the noise...but that doesn't mean it's a good thing

    Just for fun (because it looks like Greggy going to take it)...I pulled the motor out and fixed the squeal.

    I should have spent that 1 hr years ago

    You've gotta be damn quick here sometimes. I've seen stuff go within a few minutes of the OP and screamed all sorts of new and inventive profanities for missing out

    You'd be third on the "next up" list Hangman, but I'm pretty confident that it's all settled with Greggyboy now (picking up Tues atm). So, FWIW, sorry mate.

    I only close my ads when everything is completed and the item has left my premises, so my apologies if it looks like it's still available. Although experience has proven that it never hurts to ask, or throw a post in...just in case.

    Thanks all.

    Yeah, all good RedShirt. I was debating on buying a new one from Carbatec when I saw this ad for a reasonably priced 2nd hand one.

    Oh, well. C'est la vie.
