Californian Redwood Slabs $/m3 Can deliver to Melbourne Working With Wood Show
Haven't been on the forum for a while so bear with me as I learn this ins and outs of this new auction format. A classified listing would probably have suited this offer better but I couldn't work out how to do one of those.
I haven't had my mill out for a while but getting my hands on these Californian Redwood logs has brought it out of retirement.

In this Auction I'm offering for sale a slab at a rate of so many dollars per cubic meter.
The logs will deliver slabs from ~1.5m wide down to ~200mm. You tell me what widths lengths you want and how thick and I will do my best to have it cut before the Melbourne Timber and Working With Wood Show so that if peoples wish I can deliver to the show. The large diameter logs have significant taper concentrated at there widest ends. Slabs that start at 1.5m wide will only maintain a width close to that for a short length of approximately 2m. There is a log that is ~1.2 wide narowing to ~850mm over ~5m.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you if I can cut it from what is available.
I already have cut a bunch of slabs that start at ~650mm wide that narrow to ~500mm over 3.2m. Being 55mm thick they would cost ~$200 each at $2000/m3. I've already sold some larger ones (700mm+ wide) for $3000/m3.
Being an auction it is possible that someone could get a 1.5m wide slab at a bargain price. That is why this auction is only a listing for one slab
My plan is to sell slabs to people that want them, a slab or two goes to the former owner of the tree, I'll keep a handful for my self and the rest will be cut up into dimensioned timber for my own use.
I'm not sure on the etiqutte of this new sale format so please forgive if I'm breaking any rules.
If people would like to call to discuss I can PM you my phone number or answer any questions you have.
Regardless of how this listing goes all the logs must be milled before the end of October because the site needs to be cleared.

Ummm, I've had a number of PMs come in asking questions about the Redwood. When I've replied I haven't had any responses. Checking in my PM folder under "sent items" it appears I have 0 entries.
I haven't been on the forum for a while so I'm not as familiar with how it works as I should be but is this normal? Very frustrating because I don't know if my messages are getting through to people or not.

Yup, thats normal. I've had replies to PMs, looked up sent, nothing in there. I'm in the same situation where I'm pretty sure I sent something but not sure if I was imagining it or not.
When you're sending a message, there is a tickbox underneath the compose area which is off by default - "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder."
