Diamond grind wheel
Details: Buy WoodRiver Diamond Grinding Wheel 8 120grit at Woodcraft
Has a 5/8" arbour. It mounted quickly and accurately to my Abbot and Ashby utility model bench grinder.
Plenty of life left in it. I've used it to put a fine edge on turning tools using a Tormek mount bar and jigs. It's good for high carbon tools too as it runs very cool. A rubber abrasive cleaning stick has been enough to clean it.
Only selling as I've gone to a Sorby Pro-Edge.
Note: postage at cost at buyer's expense. Will be about $15. If postage or pickup is not settled within 14 days the item will return to the Marketplace.Cheers, Ern

Hi Graham,
no it's not like a CBN wheel (cubic boron nitride). It uses coating of resin in which the diamond particles are embedded. Woodcraft have been selling them for some years; it's proven technology now with HSS and HCS.
Truing: you don't. It either fits your grinder or it doesn't. I'm in Reservoir if you want to bring your grinder down for a fitting.
Hope this helps.Cheers, Ern

thanks for the information fairly happy with my current set up ALOX wheel with the tormek bar and jigs, just thinking that their will be less dust using the diamond wheel and no dressing.Did have a lot of problems when i fitted the replacement alox wheels with out of balance problems took quite some time to get it reasonable.

No worries.
There's little or no abrasive dust with the diamond wheel. Metal grindings drop to the bench. It puts a polish on the bevel.
The question of fit was discussed some time ago when NeilS did the bulk buy I think from which this unit came.
IIRC correctly Neil found a little eccentricity with his mount.
I have no space for it any longer and have dropped the price to $50 just to clean up in the workshop.Cheers, Ern

Sold to gidgee 1
For others who are interested in the tech, see:

Mine's still going strong as after that thread's account all I used it for was a few touch ups of finish-cut tools. I hate messing around with clamped jigs for turning tools.Cheers, Ern
