For the reference of those interested my notes state:
If a toother is complete it should have the retoother machine, 3 carriers: straight, crown, and backsaws and 5 or more ratchet bars.
The standard bars included with most are:
* 13-7-4
* 8-4.5
* 9-5
* 10-5.5
* 11-6.
The optional bars sold individually were
* 12-6.5
* 14-7.5
* 15-8-4.5
* 16-8.5.
The ratchet bars are marked for points per inch that the bar would cut teeth for.
Therefore a complete set would be:
* 9-5
* 10-5.5
* 11-6.
* 12-6.5
* 13-7-4
* 14-7.5
* 15-8-4.5
* 16-8.5…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hi Dale,
What's the Hen's Tooth look like when it's home.... is that a hint as to it's rarity?

I have edited that, as I misread my info. well I had another note which had further data that clarified it. I thought mean't it required a hen's tooth punch, it was in reference to the 15 & 16 ratchet bars being as rare as hen's teeth due to them not being available until the 70's and only as an extra.
You can also split teeth so a 12 bar can be split to give you 24 teeth.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

I have a Foley Belsaw SR1000. It is mechanically identical to the Foley 385 and was produced after the merger of Foley and Belsaw companies.
The best resource for Foley information is on Mark Stansbury's blog: Foley Filer
The best advice for tuning the retoother is on Joe Federici's blog: The missing fine print on using a Foley retoother | Positive Rake
Mark wrote an excellent summary of the Foley and Belsaw companies here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...t?pref=2&pli=1

Mark Stansbury also provided plans someplace for making your own carriers. I haven't been able as yet to find it.

My machine (Foley Belsaw SR1000) came from the Chullora TAFE in Western Sydney. They had a Saw Doctor school, which is sadly no more.
There was lots of other nice stuff (Camoz was there) and Hardenfast picked up a load of saw stuff.
Do to space and time limitations, I limited myself to the retoother which fortunately is quite small.
It came with a few ratchet bars and I have since picked up some on eBay and some new from Ron Bontz.
I now have all the standard bars and optional bars except 14 and also have a custom 18 and a 20.
I have a few carrier bars including a breasted carrier.
There were also optional "Sandvik" breasted carriers with bigger breasts. Must be a Swedish thing.
The ratchet bars have cost more than the machine but I look at them as an investment as they save using up files for toothing which in these days of dwindling file stocks seems rational to me.
My machine came in good condition, the punch and die look sharp and it is pretty clean.
However, the the rubber drive wheel that sits on the motor drive shaft to run against the flywheel was shot.
These are known for disintegrating, fortunately, Foley Belsaw still carry them as spare parts.
So I was able to purchase a few and ship them out.
Of course, the driveshaft of the motor was different to the replacement wheels, so I had to drill it out and ream the final fit with some sandpaper on a dowel.
These photos are of a test run in the workshop of Heavensabove.
It's very fiddly to get the correct adjustment of the feeder paw that drives the ratchet.
It took Peter and I a couple of goes to get it right on a sample plate but the final result was great.
Get it wrong, like at the recent BMGTG, and it's all cows and calves and you have to start again.

Here you go Dale: Foley Saw Filers and Retoothers: Carrier Bars
I've sent a spare carrier and ratchet to RayG to copy.
The carrier bars are pretty simple, just need a few holes in the right place to match the pins in the ratchet bars.
Is your Foley gear from the Gumtree ad in Western Sydney?
