I was alwrted to this thread update by email and instantly thought "those b*st*rds!" Indeed. Ask not for whom the bell tolls, etc etc.
I have to say that my FP1 would have been mine forever but then the FP2 reared its ugly head (and I do mean ugly). Cruella sez that I can only have one Deckel, so Frau Zwei stays and Fraulein Eine goes. She hasn't fully embraced the idea of the Aciera either.
I just sold my Tai-boga* drill press today without meaning to. I was rushing around doing something vital (asteroid diversion? Arms treaty? I forget now, but it was really brow-furrowing stuff). Giy rings up and asks what price and I blurt out some stupidly low number. Sold.
Oh well. It is going to the new occupant of the house so it stays when we leave. Handy.
And it really was a fair price considering I got it for free. And only 100 hours labour. After parts I made a whopping $2.11 each and every hour that I worked on it. Half that if you include schemeing and bargain hunting for bearings, vfd, etc.
So the FP1 will be as good as an old skool Deckel gets. I realise that its not everyone's cup of tea, but it beats the hell out of a xx-45 linguine noodle mill. And it comes with gen-u-ine way oil! Beat that with a stick!

*Tai-boga is what we call a Taiwanese copy of an Arboga drill. I had a graphic made up of a Viking in a coolie hat with horns, but now I have lost interest. It's all part of the service here at The House of Pain™

In fact the FP1 is more...approachable. It just reeks of friendly size, ability and envelope. I probably should keep it as my hime mill, but I despair of choosing at all, let alone badly. That's why I used to be a Bedouin potentate. Couldn't choose. And, by the way, if you are goin' to be a potentate, then you gots to act potent!*
*impotent? Act important. Only pronounce it the same.
I know the rational conclusion threw you off, and rendered my post suspect, but I assure you that it is me. The new, extra strength placebos are really working well! Soon they will let me brush my teeth unsupervised.

As I said in the market place add, I truly am sorry to see you defect and leave all your Victorian pals to their own devices
But all the best anyway mate, those Queenslanders need some fresh blood and decent dna to add to the jean pool up there...

Try fitting those clip-around capacitors on the power lead ... Should stop them interfering with the TV.
