I don't usually post here, but since it's BIN, and interesting, and rare, judging by google hits:

    Is it like a Volstro?

    Seller's feedback is not great.

Don't think so. I think you put a (hollow) profile of the shape you want to cut and it will progress around. Things like D holes etc.

    Default Cheap "handmade" Shaper

Some one has put a lot of work into this, rough as it maybe! It might not be a goer, but it could be a nice coffee table talking piece?? The photos are hard to follow but it is certainly a shaper! Mystery Vintage Large 'Planing Machine' | eBay Graeme

Default A sweet little Horizontal Mill.

This little Horizontal Atlas mill certainly looks great, and if in a matching condition to its cosmetic appearance, would be a great addition to almost any workshop. More details of Atlas mills can be found on Tony Griffiths site here Page Title. I have no connection with the seller of this machine, but I hope it finds a suitable new owner.

They are a toy. Great machine provided your main use is to polish & oil it regularly, not cut metal.

Sure they will cut metal, just not much and not quickly.

This is an interesting one...even if a little rusty..Seller claims it to be of English origin but lathes.co.uk says they were made in the Netherlands. If it were half the price i could even be interested......

    Default A Hydraulic collet chuck.

This type of chuck is new to me and perhaps some other members too. Kennametal 1 2" Standard HP Hydraulic Chuck Endmill Holder W CAT40 Shank | eBay
A quick 2 minute bit of Google research suggests that they are very accurate but best used for precision work such as reaming, precision drilling and other light finishing cuts. They are not suited for roughing out and definitely not for heavy cuts using solid carbide ripper tooling, as micro slippage causes failure of such tooling. Hydraulic expansion chuck vs. Collet chuck This link explains it better than I can, and I just wonder if anyone here uses this stuff, and would like to give us a rundown on the benefits or otherwise of it.
If any member feels like trying to acquire this item, feel free to go for it, although I have found Reliable Tool less than communicative when trying to orgaise freight, or even giving a list of contents of a box of drills and reamers so that I would have some idea if I had received all the goods or not. YMMV.
    Regards,
    Rob.

No experience with the chuck, but have read many times over the years where they are called unreliable tools.
There was a thread on PM a few years back where the guy got delivered a piece of crap lathe with a bent cross slide screw that was locked up from memory. I contacted them via ebay and sent them to the thread saying it would be in there best interest because a lot of machinist read that forum, they then helped the guy a little. He was thankful to me but never got it 100% fixed by them.

Another guy in England got a rusted indexer posted to him when the picture on ebay showed a beautiful one? They told him he could send it back and it must have rusted (solidly locked up) on the way.

There are many more bad stories around, but they seem to keep sell the stuff at high prices.
