Only a little away from where you got a machine before, if I recall, so not much of an excuse! Quite a few things were stupidly priced....you can tell I missed out.

That thing looked good, ways seemed excellent. Centre height bizarre, tiny on such a length of machine...and a couple of weird, really long levers up at the headstock, stuffed if I knew what they do.

Administrators or Grays had sold some of the better stuff prior to auction, which was disappointing.

Was that price for the two of them?

If you were to make another one I'd suggest making it with ER collets as I think it would be more versatile. It wouldn't be a huge project to buy an existing straight ER collet spindle and shrink a sleeve around it to form the actual air spindle ie something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ER32-3-4-...item256664aa54 You may be able to get a good enough finish and accuracy from a bodged Sunnen Hone clone, assuming you don't already own something like that. I notice your table is rusty, get used to it, it rusts like the devil and nothing seems to be able to stop it.

I don't recall ever seeing a drill grinding fixture for this machine, or even imagine how it may work. I'd be very interested in seeing that when you get it. I did look to see if it was feasible to sharpen slab mills with it and made an arbour to do so, but they didn't fit, and wouldn't without extensive mucking about. Since I have a T&C grinder I sharpen the slabs on that and they come up a treat (albeit with a bit more care with setup), but it may be something to consider if you're running a horizontal mill.

Yes, I got caught on the hop a little, I'd expected it to go for 3 or 4 times that price.. now I'm trying to convince myself that it was too far away..

    Keep looking.. maybe next time...

Ok, sorry I'd understood the drill grinding jigs were for this machine and I was trying to figure out that one out as the only attachment I've seen for the end mill grinder is a ball attachment.

    Enjoy

Is anyone here - particularly from Victoria - going to the Grays' Quantas sale at Mascot/Sydney?
There are a few items I'd like to bid on, but I can't go there to pick them up
Please let me know. Of course I'm happy to participate appropriately in travel and nuiscance costs!
Happy to visit anywhere in Vic/Souther NSW to pick any 'winnings' up.
    Cheers,
    Joe

$500, solid USA make, paint job looks old, got a taper attachment, at that start price I can't really see that there's an issue....

I'm getting to Sydney not long after the close of the auction - not sure what the timeline is for picking stuff up though. I don't expect to arrive until maybe the 10th or so, earliest would be the 6th.

Bringing stuff back isn't a drama but it wouldn't be until August.

Might be stuff I want to bid on too, I haven't had a good look as yet. I'll check with you about potential clashes if I decide I'm going to bid on stuff.

Edit: Pickup of the small lots is late enough that I will be in Sydney, barring unforeseen disasters in transit. So I can pick up and I almost certainly will be bidding on some stuff. Give me a call or send me an email....

And PS RC: that Colchester faceplate looks like a D1-3 so would fit your 10EE. I gave away my 2 spares some time ago to good homes but I still have one, so no personal interest.

Here is an old engineering shop in Bundaberg selling up

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bunda...ore/1047391666

There is a lot lot more stuff then the seller has listed..

There is a planer, but I am thinking it is going to be too big for me, at least six gear cutting machines...

I am going for a look probably on Tuesday...
