Be interesting to see what this goes for.

Nice lathes, but just a bit fragile.

    Default Waldown Drill Project ?

This needs to be rescued by some one looking for a Waldown NH project. I recently bought a nice (complete) one in reasonable condition, off Gumtree for considerable more than this starting price! This one also looks like it's single phase, which means it may not have been in a production shop? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/waldown-d...item258f378603

    Yes, that's way over priced.

One went in SA at a southern suburb last year (in good nick) for half that money.

Fragile? I've got the later model Maximat 11, never noticed anything fragile about it. As I missing something?

Oh come on, you call a bridgeport a soggy noddle.

Though, why are the tailstock and the right hand bearing block for the leadscrew a different color I wonder?

    HI Aaron,
I am going to the inspection day on Monday. Have passed the vetting system and got a seat on the 11am bus. Want to see the MS jig borer up close. Have been busy selling stuff to see if I can make a bid. SWMBO is still to be convinced. Let me know if you want me to check anything out for you.

Well, B/ports *are* soggy noodles. I quite like the versatility of them but I'm under no illusions about their rigidity.

I wouldn't describe them as *fragile* though.

The Emco lathes are on the lightweight end of the scale, mine masses approx 200 kg for the same work envelope as a Chipmaster (560 kg), a 10EE (1100 kg plus) and a CVA (1500 kg). But they're not fragile machines.

    Default Chains & Accesories sale

Did any of you guys go to the sale at the old chains and accessories site? I got a few good things, I will post pics tomorrow. There were some interesting machines from hercus there. One was a machine for putting graduations on dials, a hercus slash grinder and a hercus slide way grinder. Good to see some of the machines that were made here once.

The V10's have very light alloy gear selectors that fatigue and cause havoc when they break and mingle with the gear sets.

Also the fibre gears are a weak point.

Parts are expensive if you can get them.

Brass gear replacements are the go, as the fibre ones can split in half and also tear up if mistreated.

The machine for putting graduations on dials sounds interesting.
Was it like a pantograph and did it sell?

    Thanks

    Default Grays QANTAS auction

Their site can't seem to keep up with the load - I keep getting timeouts & resets. But then I am on a satellite connection and it's totally fogged in today.

Anyway I think you people should do your part & outbid me on some stuff as my running total is getting right up there..... I foresee an attempt to offload some grinding wheels if I'm successful on some of those lots. And I really only need one more decent sized RT not the 3 I'm currently 'winning'. Which is what I get for using a bid on an item as a place marker.....

Hmm, interesting, I don't think the later Maximat 11 has those issues. I'll take a look when I get back to the place I keep that machine just to satisfy my curiosity now.
